Pantnagar Airport — Serves the Kumaon region (Nainital, Corbett, Almora). Limited flight connectivity.

🚆 By Train

Major Railway Stations: Haridwar, Dehradun, Kathgodam (Nainital), and Rishikesh. Well-connected to Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and other cities. Shatabdi and Vande Bharat Express available.

Excellent road connectivity from Delhi (via NH 7 and NH 9). Regular state and private buses, taxis, and self-drive options. Distance from Delhi: Rishikesh ~240 km, Nainital ~300 km, Mussoorie ~290 km.

🏔 Local Transport

Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) runs buses across all districts. Shared jeeps, taxis, and rental cars are widely available. Download offline maps as mobile networks are patchy in remote areas.

All pilgrims must register online at the official Uttarakhand Tourism website. Registration is free and includes an RFID tag for safety tracking. Register at least 2 weeks in advance during peak season.

Wildlife Sanctuary Permits

Entry to Jim Corbett, Rajaji, and other sanctuaries requires online booking. Safari permits (jeep/canter) sell out months in advance during peak season. Book via respective forest department websites.

Inner Line Permits

Trekking routes near the China border (Milan Glacier, Kumaon region) may require Inner Line Permits for foreign nationals. Check with the District Magistrate's office in advance.
